With a multitude of allergies and food sensitivities in our family, I’ve had to come up with a few alternate food choices. It is time to come up with an alternative to Mayonnaise ! There is just one hitch. I’ve found in order to gain a thumbs up from the members of my family I need to change the names of things. For example:
almond milk is not MILK…it is “ALMOND milk”
vege burgers are just that… “vege burgers” NOT hamburgers
Daiya cheese is NOT cheese but rather “DAIYA CHEESE”
and of course MAYONNAISE will not be called mayo but rather “avocado dip or spread!”
I’ve really enjoyed adding relish to make a tartar sauce, adding it to sandwiches with a bit of paprika or of course as a simple guacamole with salsa and salad.
Avocado Spread/Dip – A.K.A Mayo-Substitute
Gluten-free; dairy-free; corn-free; egg-free; additive free; soy-free; grain-free
2 ripe avocados
2 fresh limes, juiced
sea salt, to taste
seasoned as you like (pepper, paprika, chili, etc)
Combine all ingredients in Bullet Blender and blend until smooth. Store in a sealed air-tight container and use in place of mayonnaise.
Happy People – avoid comparisons.
